Startups Tracker at Startup Moldova Program

Basic Functions

Startups Tracker supports the activities of the UPGRADE and Impact Program withing Startup Moldova, tracking and supporting startups to grow, identifying, and screening startups, matching their needs and opportunities, mentors, and investors.

The post holder works with colleagues in sectorial industries and technical roles at senior levels and has significant exposure to the external organization in key transactions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track startup portfolio. Understand how portfolio companies are approaching the market and how to accelerate the path to success.
  • Increase team collaboration. Centralized communication and insight enable teams to systematically test business model hypotheses.
  • Identify and updates the list of mentors
  • Boost the mentor’s engagement to collaborate and help move teams forward
  • Develop lean startup skillsets. Build competence in customer, business model, and agile development.
  • Assist with the market and business analysis in support of the implemented projects
  • Captures and monitors the impact research insights have on Project representatives and startups, providing inputs to reports that enable with Startup Moldova team to represent its impact

Specific Roles, Responsibilities, and Functions applicable to the Startups Tracker

  • Structure Moldovan startups database
  • Establish communicational and tracking processes in collaboration with startups
  • Provide assistance in collaboration with startups by needs and challenges
  • Establish a pool of mentors and matching them with startups
  • Develop a communication strategy to ensure visibility and international exposure
  • Maintain a constant dialogue with startups, define new opportunities
  • Report regularly to the Senior Project Coordinator, respectively if required to USAID/Sweden, where appropriate, regarding decisions to be made, activities are undertaken, and progress.

Knowledge, skills, training, and experience

  • A good understanding of the Startup mindset, strong existing networks throughout the Startup Ecosystem
  • Strong strategic, financial, and commercial know-how
  • Superior problem-solving skills addressing multi-part problems with high levels of uncertainty  
  • Track-record in delivering complex multi-faceted projects that combine objectives in technology development, influencing people and commercial outcomes  
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with different kinds of communities with different norms and communication styles  
  • Comfort with communicating with and influencing investors and other stakeholders  
  • Ability to define and implement business processes and tools within startups

Startup Moldova Technology Transfer Officer

Basic Functions:

The Technology Transfer Officer supports the activities of the UPGRADE and IMPACT Program within Startup Moldova,  in specific relating to Technology adoption in traditional sectors work plan, identifying and implementing digitalization in non-IT sectors, partnering with IT experts, serving as a liaison between tech and non-tech companies while matching their needs and opportunities. 

The post holder works with colleagues in sectorial industries and technical roles at senior levels and has significant exposure to external organizations in key transactions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines develop and communicate a strategy for assuring insights from non-IT and IT sectors in the work plan are transferred to IT experts and industries to deliver the right approach and solutions match, including, but not limited to digitization, automation, introducing IT throughout the chain of various business processes. 
  • Establishes business models, as appropriate, for managing the exploitation of results to increase non-IT sector value and ensure growth via IT and digital tools.
  • Lead the communication between various parties (non-IT and IT) projects to and undertake specific transfer activity as appropriate to the selected projects. This might include participating in productions that use the technology, ensuring building case for adoption of technology with colleagues’ IT and industries experts
  • Communicates complex concepts and influences diverse groups of stakeholders (sometimes with divergent views) across and outside the Program to create an environment that is receptive to transfer and enables the transfer of specific technologies
  • Captures and monitors the impact research insights have on Project representatives and industry, providing inputs to reports that enable with Startup Moldova team to represent its impact on government and other stakeholders
  • Assist with the market and business analysis in support of the implemented projects

Specific Roles, Responsibilities, and Functions

  • Oversee proposals related to connecting IT with non-IT activities and ideas coming from the IT and non-IT community and private sector.
  • Assist Startup Moldova programs with expertise and connection between different actors and stakeholders in the field.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in best-suited models across industry collaboration
  • Develop MoUs/Partnerships related to strategic industry partnerships
  • Maintain a constant dialogue with main stakeholders on the market, define new partnerships
  • Report regularly to the Senior Project Coordinator, respectively if required to USAID/Sweden, where appropriate, regarding decisions to be made, activities are undertaken, and progress.

Knowledge, skills, training, and experience

  • Broad understanding of technologies (including emerging technologies) and awareness of the intellectual property and licensing issues  
  • A good understanding of the Startup mindset, strong existing networks throughout the Startup Ecosystem
  • Strong strategic, financial, and commercial know-how
  • Superior problem-solving skills addressing multi-part problems with high levels of uncertainty  
  • Track-record in delivering complex multi-faceted projects that combine objectives in technology development, influencing people and commercial outcomes  
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with different kinds of communities with different norms and communication styles

Project Manager Startup Moldova Program

Basic Functions:

The Project Manager supports the activities of the UPGRADE and IMPACT Program within Startup Moldova in relation to daily tasks and operations to reach the success of the programs.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the project's timeline
  • Communicate with the stakeholders
  • Develop project documentation
  • Submit reports
  • Coordinate the activities of the other stakeholders involved in the project
  • Collect and evaluate data
  • Attract if required new partners
  • Oversee the communication of the activities

Specific Roles, Responsibilities, and Functions

  • Draft and develop project related documentation
  • Supervise technical documentation
  • Develop and ensure the required legal, financial and other related documents
  • Report regularly to the Senior Project Coordinator, respectively if required to USAID/Sweden, where appropriate, regarding decisions to be made, activities are undertaken, and progress.

Knowledge, skills, training, and experience

  • A good understanding of the Startup mindset, strong existing networks throughout the Startup Ecosystem
  • Prior experience in project management
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent English, Romanian and Russian
  • Passionate about technologies and their implementation in nonIT
  • Ability to manage a large number of tasks, people and stakeholders

FinTech Vertical Expert at Startup Moldova

Basic Functions:

The FinTech Expert will be responsible to provide expertise and management to innovative potential projects, bring actors together, develop roadmaps, and support fintech initiatives from an early stage. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership, vision and provide overall technical and strategic direction for the implementation of all projects and programs components

Ensure that all proposed program objectives and targets are achieved in a timely manner

Ensure timely delivery of quality final products

Manage and interact with Fintech community and Fintech Companies to best match their needs and ideas

Identify key partnerships

Work on behalf of the community to present joint/new/existing projects and ideas

Oversee the development of program implementation plans, performance monitoring plans, and all required reports

Maintain coordination and collaborate with ICT Excellence Center project implementing partners, and other donors and investors involved in ICT sector development in Moldova, to coordinate efforts and share results.

Participate as a member of the tender evaluation committee for selection of vendors and recipients where required if applicable

Oversee programming and funding of interventions.

 Specific Roles, Responsibilities, and Functions applicable to the SOW of Senior Project Coordinator

Oversee FinTech activities and ideas coming from the community and private sector.

Assist the FinTech community with expertise and connection between different actors and stakeholders in the field.

Supervise and manage the implementation of all activities planned,  scheduled and approved, including, but not limited to, drafting of Scopes of Work, drafting of RFPs, guiding and directing the work of consultants, implementing partners and volunteers, managing implementation so that it proceeds smoothly and according to schedule related to industry strategic partnerships, international markets, investment, and industry promotion activities.

Develop MoUs/Partnerships related to strategic industry development

Maintain a constant dialogue with main stakeholders on the market, define new partnerships

Report regularly to the Senior Project Coordinator, respectively if required to USAID/Sweden, where appropriate, regarding decisions to be made, activities are undertaken, and progress.

Report on FinTech related potential activities and initiatives

Compile proposals into portfolio requests.

Qualifications:

  • Min 10 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing FinTech related activities
  • Proven expertise and knowledge of the FinTech sector, national, regional, and international context.  
  • BSc or BA degree in information technologies, business, economics, or social sciences. 
  • Proven success in managing and leading the design of complex projects 
  • Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian

 DELIVERABLES:

  1. Project proposals, including project plans, budgets, etc
  2. All projects related documentations
  3. Any specific donor-driven procedures manuals
  4. Reporting documentation required by Senior Project Coordinator
  5. Any other documentation that is required for the best reach of the set forth results
